The Association was first
organized in 1893 and called the “Ouachita River Improvement
Association.” In 1854 Congressional action designated Arkadelphia,
Arkansas as the head of navigation on the Ouachita River. At the
present time, commercial navigation terminates at Camden, AR. In 1950,
the people changed the name of the organization to the “Ouachita River
Valley Association”.

The Ouachita River
Valley Association is a nonprofit organization engaged in the
promotion of the development of projects that have been proven to
be economically sound, socially justified, which enhance the
general welfare of the people in the Ouachita River Basin in Arkansas, Louisiana and the nation. |
